Omondi Otieno is responsible for leading CHASP’s global strategy. He dedicates his time to industry innovation and establishing new business lines under the CHASP Advisory group.
He is a Monitoring and Evaluation specialist with over 15 years’ experience in managing diverse Public Health, Social Protection and Livelihood Programs in Rural and Humanitarian environments of the Horn of Africa. He has a deep practical understanding of the policy space in the sectors of health and social policy within most countries in Sub-saharan Africa and is known to be a thought leader on Social Protection, and on Healthcare Systems – areas in which he has extensively published reviewed articles, research papers, and implementation guidelines and tools. He continues to actively engage in generating knowledge that shapes development discourse in the region.
Prior to founding CHASP, Omondi worked for various non-profits in the Horn of Africa region, and independently consulted for various organizations including, Unicef, WFP, Oxfam, Save the Children, Action Against Hunger, Hivos, International Rescue Committee, Glaxosmithkline, Medecins du Monde, Cardno East Africa, and the Danish Refugee Council, amongst many others. He also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at the College of Liberal Arts of De La Salle University (Phillipines).
He holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies (Public Health) from Makerere University -Uganda, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Organizational Development from Henrich Heine University – Germany, and a Master of Public Health (Health Systems and Informatics) from the University of Western Cape – South Africa. He is in the process of finalizing a PhD in Development Economics from Makerere University – Uganda.

Lucas is a seasoned Programmes Manager and an accomplished value chains expert with over 30 years of progressive experience in the management of diverse projects and regional programmes. He has led diverse teams in the development and supervision of programmes in Coffee value chains in the region, Overseeing complex and multicounty programs in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia and Ethiopia.
His footprint strides strategic engagements in Government, Private sector and the Non Profit sector.
Lucas started his career at The Lake Basin Development Authority as a rice specialist and later worked for the Private Sector where he was area Leaf Manager at British American Tobacco. He later moved to ActionAid where He held various positions including Regional and Policy Manager for western Kenya. He was Markets Advisor and Head of ASALs at Oxfam and served as Programmes Manager at Hivos East Africa.
Lucas has led diverse teams and overseen the successful execution of a number of social protection consultancy assignments in the region, including Unicef funded The Nutrition Improvements through Cash and health education, (NICHE), and the STRIDE project that targets Children with Disability in Mombasa County.
He has also undertaken the NORAD II and Unpaid Care work baselines for Oxfam, The EU Funded Support to Resilience for sustainable livelihoods through NRT, and the ongoing John Hopkins University study on Uptake of COVID 19 Vaccines in Kenya
Lucas holds an Undergraduate Degree in Agricultural Education and Extension from Egerton University and a Master’s degree in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.
Collins is a CPA(K), FMVA, BA and MA Economics graduate. He offers a rich blend of accounting, operations, strategic, administrative and leadership talents gained from 10 years of experience in hospitality, real estate and advanced financial studies. He boasts a history of reorganizing, streamlining, strengthening financial operations to maximize performance and profitability for private firms, an effective communicator who quickly builds and nurtures an excellent relationship with external and internal contacts. His primary role at CHASP involves statutory compliance, administration, setting up internal controls, system reviews and keeping an eye on the bottom line.
Omole Opinya is a Human Rights and Governance Specialist. Paul has engaged with diverse communities and institutions for over 20 years facilitating various programs aimed at advancing human rights and Governance systems. Paul has critical hands-on skills in Development Programming, Monitoring and Evaluation systems, and Institutional Strengthening. Omole holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Science) from Kenyatta University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Political Science.
Bulinda is a Value Chains Specialist with 7 years of experience leading Value Chains, Livelihood and Social Protection Programs in rural and humanitarian settings across the country and internationally. At CHASP, Bulinda is deeply involved in social policy processes and continuously generates knowledge that actively informs regional development policy debates. He is well versed in policy formulation and implementation of cross-cutting social protection issues with a keen interest in promoting the participation and inclusion of vulnerable persons in mainstream development processes, especially early intervention, education, and employment. Bulinda audits and train on accessibility and social protection mainstreaming. In addition, he strives for an increased understanding of policy provisions and resource allocations to development programmes targeting vulnerable persons in the community.
He works for CHASP Advisory as a Practice Manager. He has worked for other organizations and projects, providing technical support in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluations, and humanitarian programming. Specifically, Bulinda has worked on projects for ICIPE, GROOTS Kenya, AfriDev Consulting, 3R-Netherlands’s project, ILRI, and Policy and Market Options.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management from Egerton University. He is undertaking his MSc degree in Agribusiness Management at The Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Agriculture and Agribusiness Management (CESAAM) at Egerton University (Kenya).
Derick is an economist with experience in the design, management, and implementation of social protection programmes within humanitarian environments. He is well versed in policy formulation, research, monitoring and evaluation, disability programming, and implementation of other livelihood programmes undertaken within fragile environments. Derick is generally responsible for supporting various programmes undertaken by the organization in the spheres of social protection, disability, health, research, monitoring and evaluation, and livelihoods within the region. He is passionate about humanitarian development and the Sustainable Development Goals and has been involved with various organizations that champion the SDG agenda like AIESEC and ICY Africa while pursuing this.
Before joining CHASP Advisory, He had worked with Africa 118 and Sony Sugar Company.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Maasai Mara University.
Joram Oruko is currently a Practice Associate at CHASP based in Nairobi, Kenya. Since joining, he has been responsible for working arm in arm with the County Registration Coordinators to execute and achieve clearly set out beneficiaries registration goals and objectives.
He also has a background in Real Estate and Property Management and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in the same. He has since developed a profound interest in the workings of humanitarian policies championing sustainable social and economic development.
Sharon is a development practitioner with over 9 years of work experience managing livelihoods, social protection, business development and institutional capacity building programs. She has experience working on programs in Kenya, Uganda . Tanzania and South Africa.
Sharon started her career as a child protection officer and later worked for the Kenya community development foundation coordinating livelihoods programs and capacity building activities for young men and women on business development. She currently supports capacity building interventions for both individuals and organizations on policy issues and resource mobilization.
She holds a bachelors degree in sociology and currently pursuing a masters in development studies at the University of Nairobi.
John Irungu is a Social community worker with over a decade of experience supporting development issues across a range of sectors (Health-HIV/AIDS and child protection) in civil society’s settings in the Eastern region of Kenya.
He is well versed in community empowerment programs, social policy engagements and implementation of livelihood programs targeting vulnerable communities.
At CHASP John is a consultant associate working with communities to bring about social policy change through active participation of the community in addressing issues that affect them collectively.
Muendo is a Population Social Development (PSD) Expert with over 15 years of experience in research, policy development and evidence-based policy analysis. He holds extensive experience in the fields of Policy Development on Women Empowerment, Youth and Women participation in Value Chain Development, Credit access to Smallholder farmers in Agribusiness, Women participation in Leadership, Women Rights Advocacy, Life skills training, Project Management, market development, Primary Processing and Marketing of Agricultural Commodities in Kenya.
He has previously consulted for various projects in the region including the Sustainable Diets for East Africa (SuDEA), The Empower@Scale Project (E@S), The Lower Eastern Agribusiness Project (LEAP), The Integrated Dry-land Farming Project (IDFP), The Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) – funded by the UNICEF and various other projects across civil society organizations, the private sector, international organizations and national governments with emphasis on sustainable livelihoods.
Muendo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science and a Master of Arts degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and a Core Technical qualification in Economics from the Institute of Actuaries in London, UK.
Selessor is a programme management specialist with over 12 years of experience in Project Management, Research, Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation. Trained in Project Cycle Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Education (Bachelor of Education-Science) and Social Statistics (Master of Science-ongoing), She has versed experience in managing development projects from inception to closure coupled with solid expertise in development and implementation of operations research, monitoring, learning and evaluation frameworks to complement projects and programs implementation. Selessor possesses experience of 12 years spanning from hands-on experience to technical advisory support in Kenyan, Regional and international organizations. She has sound knowledge and practical experience in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs in various thematic areas including Governance; Advocacy; Education; Livelihoods Development, Child, Youth and Women Development; and Health in Kenya and the greater East Africa Region. She also possesses sound knowledge of related organizational development and Capacity Building Models. Some key areas of expertise include;
